Lammerside and Mallerstang

Todays short walk was a circuit of Birkett Common on the Western edge of Mallerstang. A very pleasent couple of hours, which saw the arrival of the cold front promised by the forecasters. The temperature dropped several degrees in the space of 30 minutes or so. Anyway heres a few photos of the scenery hereabouts....

I've not noticed one of these before, indicating the route of Wainwright's Pennine Journey.

Looking back at Lammerside Castle, a ruin like Pendragon Castle a short way to the South.

The River Eden as it meanders down Mallerstang, with  Mallerstang Edge in the background.

Across the valley to the edge beyond.

North from Birkett Common to the rake which contains some old lead mines on "Bells"

  2. Thank you very much Alan. They were all taken before the cold front and its accompanying cloud arrived.
