Devils Bridge to Treasonfield

Another wet day...today I went for a walk in the Lune valley with Bill. Parking near Kirkby Lonsdale at Devils Bridge we followed footpaths and bridleways many of them overgrown, (a machete would have been useful at times!) up the valley to the converted farm of Treasonfield. We returned to the car along quiet lanes on the east side of the valley under the Barbon Fells. It never really stopped raining all the time we were out. The pictures tell us nothing of the surroundings, but that the hedgerows are full of fruit!

Hawthorn, the Redwings and Fieldfares will soon be arriving from Scandinavia hungry for these.

Rosehips, (I used to collect these for cash when I was a little lad!

Sloes (Blackthorn)  not many of these about this year, sadly for all you Sloe Gin lovers!

Blackberrys, these are really past their best round here.

Elderberrys, almost ready for the winemakers!
