Deepdale, Leighton Moss & Trowbarrow

 This was last Friday's walk, and a very similar route to the walk I did on the 11th February. I enjoyed it then and decided to do pretty much the same again...but to film it this time. The weather was great and if anything It's a walk full of interest and hope I've managed to convey some of this in the video.

A Walk to Dalton Crags

This was Thursday's walk....editing got in the way of a prompt post!! I hadn't been to Dalton Crags before, although I had been very close. It's always good to explore new areas, and I enjoyed this walk from home. Only about 10 miles as a round trip, so not to taxing. I have to say the actual "crags" were a little underwhelming....but then what was I expecting!

Arnside's Rocky Coast

Out again for my daily exercise from home. Today I once more walked over to the coast. I then followed the shore round to Far Arnside. My route home took me through Middlebarrow Wood, beside Haweswater and more field paths back home....a long day 18.9miles! That was more than far enough...it was however a beautiful mild day so I was glad to make the best of it.

Arnside Knott & Tower

Another bitterly cold day today, I had heard that there were ice floes on the Kent Estuary in the media . I walked from home over to Arnside, but was disappointed to find that any that any I could see were on the far side. Anyway all was not lost as I had plenty of time to make an ascent to Arnside Knott and a visit to Arnside Tower. 

The weather softened a bit as I reached Hale on the way back...a sign of the change in the weather which has been forecast for tomorrow. 17.1 miles today, way more than I had anticipated when I set off this morning!

Deepdale Pond & Haweswater

Out for anther wander today, as indeed I have on every other day this year! As the days lengthen I am able to stretch my horizons a little...although todays walk was 15.6 miles so that's probably as far as I want to do really. Still I'm very lucky to have such an interesting area within walking distance from my front door. 

It was a beautiful day weather wise but cold and although I was carrying my video gear, I decided it would be a photograph kind of day. So here are a few images from the day....

Having crossed the A6 near Hale I walked across Thrang Moss

Then up through Cringlebarrow woods above Yealand Redmayne

There was still frost in the shaded areas

Then it was down into Deepdale and it's "pool"...sadly the pool has all but disappeared

Leaving Deepdale behind I crossed Leighton Moss...almost all frozen today

A wizened old tree at Haweswater, from here it was back on a well trod route home....featured in previous videos on the blog. I enjoyed this walk I may well return with a moving picture machine!...

 

Industrial Archaeology of the Leighton Beck Area

Today's wander round the Leighton Beck area, where I visit a number of sites of Industrial Archaeological interest. This area would have been hive of activity 250 years ago....rather than the Area of Outstanding Beauty which it is now.

I had in fact walked much of this route over the past couple of days...but omitted to either film it or even take any photographs....sometimes the mojo is lacking under the current restrictions

Haweswater nr Silverdale

A video of today's lockdown wander. Haweswater...(not the Lake District one sadly) near Silverdale. It was however a beautiful day and very peaceful being "midweek". 

There's even a bit of "cooking"...no doubt against the Covid rules.
