Pen-y-ghent completed the tryptech of individual walks over each of the "Three Peaks". Whernside was the hill of the day. It was a damp rainy start, but the weather improved as the day progressed. More ofen than not I walk this route in the opposite direction...on reflection I think this way is better. I filmed the walk, the video can be linked to below</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="297" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bQm2imRlOHY" width="472" youtube-src-id="bQm2imRlOHY"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">A click <a href="https://youtu.be/bQm2imRlOHY" target="_blank">here</a> will open the video in a new window</p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-89945797574919335022021-05-20T19:59:00.003+01:002021-05-20T19:59:44.878+01:00KTM 1190 Adventure in the Northern Pennines<p> Yesterday was a rare "almost dry" here in the grim North of England. I rode over to Middleton-in-Teesdale via Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh, Kirkby Stephen and Brough. I was blessed with blue skies nearly all day...it was almost warm! Upper Teesdale led over to Garrigill, then over to Nenthead for lunch. The roads were beautifully quiet...fantastic. From Alston it was over Hartside to Penrith and beside Ullswater and back home over Kirkstone. A great day out. The video below is of the ascent of Hartside from Melmerby (Part of a bonus extra for me to the top of Hartside and back from the West😀)</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="329" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5bzwMJCnSkQ" width="481" youtube-src-id="5bzwMJCnSkQ"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">Either click on the bottom left YouTube logo or <a href="https://youtu.be/5bzwMJCnSkQ" target="_blank">here</a> to open in a new window.</p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-56872482920603839962021-05-20T16:18:00.003+01:002021-05-20T16:18:47.380+01:00Black fell...An Exercise in Getting Wet!<p> Monday morning found me parked at Oxenfell near Skelwith Bridge. It was just spotting with rain...I'll not bother with overtrousers I thought! I'd changed my mind within 20metres, and having ot all togged up off I went along the Arnside Intake track. I had only a loose plan, to start walking South on the Cumbria Way and make the route up as I went along! The weather was pretty kind...better than the forecast. The route I eventually took made for a very pleasant linear walk. The 555 took me home from Windermere. I filmed the trip, the video can be seen <a href="https://youtu.be/4DAO_88c3DA" target="_blank">here</a> in a new window....its quite long....You may need refreshments😃</p><p>Here's a couple of images to wet your appetite!</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ6s3hxpUzcoO1kdncHuZZhffOpKk5rjeXD4ywKR-lSeZUzh2mQ8G_IxIb-GUR9Qs_PvXgUCFycpkKqEdoZqFMQ7lzKXXywKU2HsVmEkqWB3dgUvwFg7_VanZ4kzqMY6x4X8fHx9cWljcl/s3264/IMG_20210512_162301619.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ6s3hxpUzcoO1kdncHuZZhffOpKk5rjeXD4ywKR-lSeZUzh2mQ8G_IxIb-GUR9Qs_PvXgUCFycpkKqEdoZqFMQ7lzKXXywKU2HsVmEkqWB3dgUvwFg7_VanZ4kzqMY6x4X8fHx9cWljcl/w400-h300/IMG_20210512_162301619.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Eagle Crag from near Stonethwaite</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsvfxe99gglmRdBRickVYa-Z9zf2fSbPLrEhFaONkcaJTRWXHFthN6mwIkY1ObESPNOAVe-YxhnDCVff2er2iMYgjTYF_E8vm7fQBH468LawUonz-uotTsb_pfjkFdR8fKgfV4I72t7DTx/s3264/IMG_20210512_195307474_HDR.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsvfxe99gglmRdBRickVYa-Z9zf2fSbPLrEhFaONkcaJTRWXHFthN6mwIkY1ObESPNOAVe-YxhnDCVff2er2iMYgjTYF_E8vm7fQBH468LawUonz-uotTsb_pfjkFdR8fKgfV4I72t7DTx/w400-h300/IMG_20210512_195307474_HDR.jpg" width="400" /></a></div></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">The Tramplite shelter pitched above Far Easedale</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="317" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4DAO_88c3DA" width="427" youtube-src-id="4DAO_88c3DA"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-3123944410988382472021-05-08T11:05:00.003+01:002021-05-08T11:05:17.053+01:00The Future is Orange<p> Is it really?....Well it is for me as regards the motorbike! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF5ivWHzG0tZlbWnIntUwE6M4yKUpPxfrbkwgn8i7eefjJey1Vp-1z_YCjeszY5-bDpuOU_NDFR81cqIWl5lEQKGOYO6mzKhPwb7pB4WxieTX382InFh-YsKpuA_h6_MNV_z-JTwNaU5F1/s2713/IMG_20210421_131004137_HDR%257E2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2713" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF5ivWHzG0tZlbWnIntUwE6M4yKUpPxfrbkwgn8i7eefjJey1Vp-1z_YCjeszY5-bDpuOU_NDFR81cqIWl5lEQKGOYO6mzKhPwb7pB4WxieTX382InFh-YsKpuA_h6_MNV_z-JTwNaU5F1/w578-h640/IMG_20210421_131004137_HDR%257E2.jpg" width="578" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">Having owned the previous Honda for over 4 years I was ready for a change....and a great deal available at KC Superbikes in Carlisle for this...a KTM 1190 Adventure. After a long difficult to cope with Winter Lockdown, and the end only 1 week away...my car was hit from behind and written off. Looking on the positive side, no one was hurt, and I did have alternative although not as practical transport. One thing I have learnt is that insurance company's move at glacial speed. Anyway once the restrictions allowing a bit more freedom came to pass I've managed a few walks. The vlogs below are records of some of them...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PpoZBeBk6Hs" width="320" youtube-src-id="PpoZBeBk6Hs"></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zjO_ec75En8" width="320" youtube-src-id="zjO_ec75En8"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nMPBrh4lUt0" width="320" youtube-src-id="nMPBrh4lUt0"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-68810824541598265622021-03-12T19:14:00.004+00:002021-03-12T19:14:53.088+00:00Storm at Jack Scout<p> The forecast yesterday was for a predominately dry day, and the motorbike is due it's MOT early next week. So once I'd put the battery back on and given it a through check over I thought it best to give it a short run out....within the current rules?...I don't know! Anyway I decided to make the short ride to Jack Scout (Jenny Browns Point) and have a short walk. The bike was great, but the walk was cut short due to the incredibly fierce wind. Hopefully the video will convey some of that.</p><p style="text-align: center;">As before a click <a href="https://youtu.be/KgCXe8on2sk" target="_blank">here</a> will open the video in a new window.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="306" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KgCXe8on2sk" width="482" youtube-src-id="KgCXe8on2sk"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-50200268118131982812021-03-09T19:14:00.005+00:002021-03-09T19:14:55.577+00:00Heversham Head<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Late last week I took advantage of the unseasonal weather to use my daily exercise for a walk to Heversham Head. This is pretty much at the limit of my range from home, the round trip being in the region of 15 miles. Quiet lanes and footpaths led me to the start of the climb at Heversham Church. The return was made via Hincaster and the Lancaster Canal.</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">The video of the Heversham Head part of the day can be seen by clicking <a href="https://youtu.be/QoB4p7dw2KU" target="_blank">here</a> which will open a new window</span> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="323" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QoB4p7dw2KU" width="485" youtube-src-id="QoB4p7dw2KU"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-21670572997130644142021-03-05T19:13:00.002+00:002021-03-05T19:13:26.597+00:00The Arnside Bore....Not Me Hopefully!<p> Earlier this week I walked over to Arnside...again! I was determined to see the tidal bore, and indeed I saw the event, it was 10.40m tide so the tide certainly rushed in and filled the estuary. Having seen the main event I walked along the coast to the mouth of the River Bela. I then walked back home through Dallam Park and the quiet lanes I now know so well.</p><p style="text-align: center;">A click <a href="https://youtu.be/JgAas3WCicE" target="_blank">here</a> will open the video in a new window</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="285" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/JgAas3WCicE" width="496" youtube-src-id="JgAas3WCicE"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-28659629298287168852021-03-03T19:35:00.002+00:002021-03-04T18:45:26.714+00:00The Arnside Riviera<p> On Sunday I walked the well worn route I've used on many occasions during the current bout of restrictions to Arnside. the forecast was spot on and I was treated to a wonderful early Spring day. I managed to miss the tidal bore, but walked the coast path to Far Arnside in the superb conditions. Hopefully the video will show just how great was.</p><p style="text-align: center;">A click <a href="https://youtu.be/k2yCaulpagE" target="_blank">here</a> will open the video in a new window</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="298" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/k2yCaulpagE" width="418" youtube-src-id="k2yCaulpagE"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-56894347974380157912021-03-01T20:07:00.001+00:002021-03-01T20:07:42.258+00:00Deepdale, Leighton Moss & Trowbarrow<p> This was last Friday's walk, and a very similar route to the walk I did on the 11th February. I hadn't been to Dalton Crags before, although I had been very close. It's always good to explore new areas, and I enjoyed this walk from home. Only about 10 miles as a round trip, so not to taxing. I have to say the actual "crags" were a little underwhelming....but then what was I expecting!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">By the magic of the internet a click <a href="https://youtu.be/vFPc_FRJAAA" target="_blank">here</a> will open a new window with a perhaps to long video therein.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/vFPc_FRJAAA" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/vFPc_FRJAAA/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-62414749355107310012021-02-22T18:10:00.002+00:002021-02-22T18:10:15.477+00:00Arnside's Rocky Coast<div style="text-align: left;">Out again for my daily exercise from home. Today I once more walked over to the coast. I then followed the shore round to Far Arnside. My route home took me through Middlebarrow Wood, beside Haweswater and more field paths back home....a long day 18.9miles! That was more than far enough...it was however a beautiful mild day so I was glad to make the best of it.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Should you wish to see the video in a new window a click <a href="https://youtu.be/bSsgzb093zU" target="_blank">here</a> will do just that!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/bSsgzb093zU" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/bSsgzb093zU/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-28901012906795680492021-02-13T20:44:00.006+00:002021-02-13T20:44:59.978+00:00Arnside Knott & Tower<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;">Another bitterly cold day today, I had heard that there were ice floes on the Kent Estuary in the media . I walked from home over to Arnside, but was disappointed to find that any that any I could see were on the far side. Anyway all was not lost as I had plenty of time to make an ascent to Arnside Knott and a visit to Arnside Tower. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;">The weather softened a bit as I reached Hale on the way back...a sign of the change in the weather which has been forecast for tomorrow. 17.1 miles today, way more than I had anticipated when I set off this morning! </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: helvetica;">I braved the cold to use the video gear today, a click <a href="https://youtu.be/xqVAaBzUUyw" target="_blank">here</a> will open a new window.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/xqVAaBzUUyw" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xqVAaBzUUyw/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-84757462124818861872021-02-11T18:22:00.003+00:002021-02-11T19:11:51.623+00:00Deepdale Pond & Haweswater<span style="font-family: helvetica;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Out for anther wander today, as indeed I have on every other day this year! As the days lengthen I am able to stretch my horizons a little...although todays walk was 15.6 miles so that's probably as far as I want to do really. This time West along The Limestone Link from Holme to the coast near Arnside. I diverted from the Link near Carr Bank as the section from there to Black Dyke Rd in Arnside is a morass after all the rain we've had recently. Back through the lanes via Haverbrack and Beetham. An enjoyable day, it almost felt Spring like this afternoon.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Please click <a href="https://youtu.be/tR1T3CripV4" target="_blank">here</a> to open the video in a new window.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/tR1T3CripV4" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/tR1T3CripV4/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-78124229593066498632021-01-25T18:44:00.005+00:002021-01-25T18:44:59.534+00:00Lockdown Walk to Scout Hill<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87); font-family: Roboto, Noto, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Another lockdown walk, this time to Scout Hill. About 4 miles from home, and a pleasant change from Farleton Knott. Generally good weather with just one light shower, Scout Hill gives excellent views for its meagre height, particularly of the Lakeland Fells.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87); font-family: Roboto, Noto, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87); font-family: Roboto, Noto, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">A click <a href="https://youtu.be/-7KFVn4cB6A" target="_blank">here</a> will open a new window....in glorious technicolour...or maybe not!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/-7KFVn4cB6A" width="480"></iframe></div>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-84885974412102213682021-01-24T18:32:00.002+00:002021-01-24T18:32:11.514+00:00A Lockdown Walk to the Coast<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87); font-family: Roboto, Noto, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Lockdown continues...and so do the walks. The cloud was down almost to the roof and the earlier snow was melting. But its always good to be out and today was possibly my best days walk on Farleton in 20 years. Enough waffling the images explain far better.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Clicking <a href="https://youtu.be/4DdhHIiYTp8" target="_blank">here</a> will open the video in a new window. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/4DdhHIiYTp8" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/4DdhHIiYTp8/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454145502547048387.post-50481321763689971302021-01-12T17:05:00.004+00:002021-01-12T17:05:45.451+00:00Scout Scar Lockdown Walk<div style="text-align: left;">Today I drove to Kendal for food shopping, our village has a small shop but doesn't have the greatest range of goods. I took the opportunity to have a walk on part of Scout Scar. It was a beautiful day with no wind. The change of scene did me good, although there were a good number of folk out on the Scar everyone, without fail was keeping their distance from one another.</div><div style="text-align: left;">Both the Lakes hills and the Howgills looked tantalisingly close, but alas out of bounds for the moment :-(</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">As is usual clicking <a href="https://youtu.be/zQf77RMNMB4" style="text-align: left;" target="_blank">here</a> will open the video in a new "window"</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/zQf77RMNMB4" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zQf77RMNMB4/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div>Alhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03631117697022610772noreply@blogger.com0
