Gaitbarrows and Thrang Moss

More lockdown walking! Each day seems to be further in mileage as I attempt to see a bit of new terrain to keep things as fresh as possible. Some days things are easier to cope with than others.... Today I walked over to Thrang Moss and back via Gaitbarrows. The video explains all.

The Limestone Link

Yet another lockdown walk from home. This time West along The Limestone Link from Holme to the coast near Arnside. I diverted from the Link near Carr Bank as the section from there to Black Dyke Rd in Arnside is a morass after all the rain we've had recently. Back through the lanes via Haverbrack and Beetham. An enjoyable day, it almost felt Spring like this afternoon.

Lockdown Walk to Scout Hill

Another lockdown walk, this time to Scout Hill. About 4 miles from home, and a pleasant change from Farleton Knott. Generally good weather with just one light shower, Scout Hill gives excellent views for its meagre height, particularly of the Lakeland Fells.

A Lockdown Walk to the Coast

Lockdown continues...and so do the walks. Today I walked from home to the coast at Sandside. This video contains history, nature, geology and views of the Lake District Fells...can't be all bad surely!
I'll let the video explain all....

Above the Clouds on Farleton Knott

A day when it would have been easy to sit at home. The cloud was down almost to the roof and the earlier snow was melting. But its always good to be out and today was possibly my best days walk on Farleton in 20 years. Enough waffling the images explain far better.

Scout Scar Lockdown Walk

Today I drove to Kendal for food shopping, our village has a small shop but doesn't have the greatest range of goods. I took the opportunity to have a walk on part of Scout Scar. It was a beautiful day with no wind. The change of scene did me good, although there were a good number of folk out on the Scar everyone, without fail was keeping their distance from one another.
Both the Lakes hills and the Howgills looked tantalisingly close, but alas out of bounds for the moment :-(

The Turtle Stone

Yet another "Lockdown" wander over local footpaths and access land. Today's jaunt was to try and find the fabled "Turtle Stone" on Hutton Roof Crags....more correctly Ploverlands.
Yes I know I was there only a couple of days ago...but with the restrictions....

A Frosty Walk to Ploverlands

As we continue into "Lockdown 3" I am walking many of the same routes as before. I am fortunate to have some great terrain locally...walking from my front door at this time of year when the days are short is not to much of a hardship. I may have a different opinion in 6 or 7 weeks time!

Fairy Steps

Out for a wander from home again, in line with the Covid19 restrictions. Today I headed West to Fairy Steps and the edge of Morecambe Bay at Sandside. I returned home via Dallam Park. A mainly sunny, but cold day.

Farleton Knott in the Snow

Another walk from home (Holme) here in Cumbria as in most of the UK, we are in Tier 4 due to Covid19. This requires us to travel as little as possible, although we can travel a short distance by car for exercise. I'm lucky to have Farleton Knott as my local hill, the summit is only 1500 metres or so from my front door (as the Crow Flies). My planned route today changed as the snow fell just as I was about to ascend the steep Western "face".....it was still an enjoyable few hours.....
