Leck Beck

A long walk, from Cowan Bridge we followed Leck Beck all the way to the ridge at Great Coum. The wall was then followed all the way back over Gragarath to Ireby. The low cloud came and went but all the way back we were battered by the wind. A good day.

Cartmel

A busy day, BMW in for its service. I walked along some paths I hadn't used before from Staveley to Windermere. Overcast and dull but quite interesting all the same. After brunch in Bowness we drove down to Cartmel were we had a walk round the village in what was now a warm and sunny afternoon. Then back to Staveley to collect the motorbike.

Bowland by BMW

The first ride of the New Year on the BMW, not to far just a bimble round Bowland. Really rather a good start to the day with a few sunny spells. However as I came down towards Quernmore I was confronted with dense damp mist, which quickly changed to heavy rain. Good to be back on the motorbike again and looking forward to more adventures.

Smardale

A spring walk along the old railway through the Cumbria Wildlife reserve in the Smardale valley. The first primroses were out on the cuttings and in the sun it was really quite warm.

Malham Tarn

Another beautiful day, we parked near watersinks and made an anti-clockwise circuit of Malham Tarn. The tarn was still partly frozen, although only about 1inch thick. Our leisurely walk took us out onto the boardwalk across the raised bog, and gave an alternative aspect to the tarn. A cold wind delivered a sharp shower just as we got back to the car.

Snowboarding at Glenshee

I was fortunate to be able to take three days off at short notice, I travelled up to Glenshee on tuesday morning and was on the board by 12.30. the weather was fantastic really quite warm and barely a cloud in the sky. After an afternoon honing what little skills I have on the Board, I drove down to the hostel in Braemar and booked in. The next day more of the same, some improvement seemed to be made although the falls on the icy snow took its toll! Thursday morning dawned a little warmer and the snow a little softer, more falls and the knowledge that a long drive back home in the afternoon meant that I had enough by 12.30. A great trip which allowed me to make a great improvement to my boarding skills.

Harwood Again!

An awesome day weather perfect and I think I had a Eureka moment on the snowboard. It all seemed to click and it became a lot easier, more practice needed now. Short post but there you go!

Mosedale

An absolutely beautiful day, to good to rush anything, we had an easy stroll up Mosedale (the one near Carrock Fell!) Still alot of snow on the tops but it felt like spring had arrived in the Valleys. This is always a quiet corner of the lakes and today was no different only half a dozen folk seen on such a wonderful day.
