Below are the latest couple of walks I've done. Pen-y-ghent completed the tryptech of individual walks over each of the "Three Peaks". Hampsfell wasn't planned...I'd intended to climb a hill in the Lakes, but the traffic this year is just crazy!

Today I headed South to Bowland (to escape the Lakes and Dales hordes) for a walk over Fair Snape Fell and a return over Parlick. The views were great and the hills lovely and quiet, I only met 2 people!

| However the track was full of snow, so I followed a narrower path...although eventually that to was covered with snow. here at about 800m the clag was down... |

| I dropped back out of the low cloud again at about 800m and unfortunately it the stated raining as well. It didn't rain all the way back thankfully but the showers were heavy. 6hrs out and back and no one seen on the hill. |

| Lochan Uaine, last time I was here it was dusk I was on the bike and I was knackered! Today there was no one about, even on a weekend. |

| The summit of Meall a Bhuachaille, it was thronged with folk. It took some judicious positioning to keep them out of the frame! There's not much snow in the Northern Corries as you can see. |

| It was to early to drop straight back down to the car so continued on the ridge to Creagan Form. It's another great viewpoint... and I had it to myself. After butties in the shelter of the cairn I returned to the col and started to descend. |

| Impressive falls on the Abhainn Thrail, fortunately a little further up there was a bridge. |

| There were a number of low rock bands to negotiate, interspersed by boggy shelves. |
 |
| The summit arrived eventually... Although this is the Western top which is a few metres lower. A great view Westwards as I said earlier. Hopefully this post is successful as I've posted it from my tablet tethered to my mobile on 4G! |

| Our arrival at Skippool coincided with some boats being craned into the creek. good to watch the expertise of both the crane driver and the handlers. |

| The tide was well in, the creek and the edge of the estuary here has many homemade jetties and piers in various states of repair...or dilapidation! All very scenic in a quaint kind of way we thought. |

| The path continues round the coast giving us a view back across to the boats beside the creek. Our route back was via Stanah and Little Thornton, having had a dry walk. No hills but all new terrain :-) |

| I took the road over Hartside, not many bikes as I was quite early. After a brew I pressed on. |

| Across by Rothbury which was very busy and after a number of minor roads I'd never been on before I parked up below Ros Castle. |

| Not the most testing of ascents. But an interesting plaque and another tick! |

| I was soon back at the bike, the motorbike jacket was warm to say the least. I guess it must weigh at least 2kg! with all the armour etc. |

| Then it was up the A1 a couple of miles before making my way up onto Lamberton Hill....not the most photogenic of hills. Like Ros Castle earlier its an old hill fort. |

| The view to the North held more of interest across to Ayton Hill with its coms mast. Back home from here, via Duns, Kelso, Hawick, Langholm and the M6. A grand day out :-) |
